Chattanooga State’s Fall Festival on Saturday, October 30 combines free food, lots of fun, health services, tours, games, and learning activities for all ages from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the main campus, 4501 Amnicola Highway, Chattanooga.
While mouth-watering aromas will fill the air offering free eats, kids can enjoy a little pre-Halloween trick or treating right on campus and play games courtesy of Student Activities.
The partnership between Chattanooga State Community College, Hamilton County Schools, the STEM School, and the Public Education Foundation came full circle on October 20 as representatives from each entity, including public officials, community members, and invited guests gathered to witness the grand opening of the Global Center for Digital Innovation (GCDI). The completed Global Center for Digital Innovation is where ideation, creation, and fabrication collide with entrepreneurship in the world’s first K-14 teaching and learning fabrication lab.
The Student Support Center at Chattanooga State Community College will sponsor its annual Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week event during October 18-21. This multi club, organization and department event was carefully planned out to engage and educate students, faculty, staff, and community members about the plight of hunger and homelessness in our area. “Young adult homelessness is a unique form of homelessness because young adults do not know that their situation is homeless,” shared Aslynn Price, a ChattState alum and founder of the 2019 event who has lived experience.
Chattanooga State Community College’s Writers@Work program, in partnership with the Southern Lit Alliance, is excited to present the fourth annual YA-hoo Fest, Chattanooga’s only young adult book festival, on September 16-17, 2021. This year’s festival will feature nineteen new and established authors of Young Adult literature, including five authors returning to the festival for a second (or fourth!) time. These authors will share their insights and expertise during the festival’s virtual panel sessions hosted on Zoom.

The Dinner of Firsts is our signature “FUNdraising” event with a toast and roast honoring a community leader who is the first in their family to attend college.

In honor of Black History Month (BHM), Chattanooga State will present a series of virtual events open to the campus and community during February.
The Bond Arts & Culture Series, The Ties That Bond, will kick off February with a Tribute to C.C. Bond, a video presentation on February 3. The late Dr. Claude C. Bond was a longtime educator and activist known in the community for his work toward improving race relations. Viewers may log on at any point and watch the tribute here.

‘Beyond I Have a Dream,’ a conversation with Pastor Rheubin Taylor and Chattanooga State’s Dr. Bill Taylor, will discuss the ‘Poor People’s Campaign’ and the connection of this movement to recent events in the U.S.
The Chattanooga State Humanities Department’s Writers@Work program will present two major events virtually this fall via popular video conferencing software Zoom. In partnership with the Southern Lit Alliance, the third annual YA-hoo Fest, Chattanooga’s only Young Adult book festival, will welcome twenty-five well-known Young Adult literature authors on September 14-17, 2020.
Ben Nemtin, a motivational, inspirational speaker, #1 best-selling author, and co-founder of MTV’s The Buried Life, will present a special virtual event “Resilience in the Face of Uncertainty,” at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, sponsored by Chattanooga state Community College.
