ChattState Announces Fall 2024 Fine Arts Events Lineup

CHATTANOOGA, TN -- Chattanooga State Community College on Tuesday announced an exciting lineup of fine arts events that will take place during the Fall 2024 semester. The lineup includes art exhibits, recitals, the grand opening of the College's new Art Center, and two opportunities to catch a live theater show. Chattanooga State Students Win Medals at National SkillsUSA Competition

CHATTANOOGA, TN -- A collection of 11 talented technical skills competitors from Chattanooga State Community College this month participated in the 2024 SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference, bringing home medals in four categories.

“Competing at the national level requires exceptional talent and determination,” said Mike Mercer, Co-Lead Adviser for ChattState’s SkillsUSA chapter. “Their hard work and passion have earned them these gold and silver medals. We are honored to support such talented individuals." 

Chattanooga State To Honor Jim Coleman at Dinner of Firsts

CHATTANOOGA, TN -- Chattanooga State’s Dinner of Firsts is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at The Chattanoogan Hotel. A reception will begin at 6 p.m., and dinner and entertainment will continue from 7 to 9 p.m.

This year’s dinner event will honor local community leader Jim Coleman, with Jay Dale serving as Event Chair. Coleman is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Erlanger Health System. He is also a community college graduate and the first in his family to attend college. Hamilton County Commissioner Chip Baker will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

ChattState Named SkillsUSA National Models of Excellence College

CHATTANOOGA, TN -- Chattanooga State Community College’s TCAT was recognized for its dedication to technical excellence in April when it was named a SkillsUSA National Models of Excellence chapter.  

ChattState was one of 24 colleges across the nation to receive the recognition in 2024. This is the highest honor bestowed on chapters by SkillsUSA, the No. 1 workforce development organization working to empower students to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and responsible community members. 

Week of Celebration Recognizes Student, Staff, and Faculty Excellence at ChattState

CHATTANOOGA, TN -- Chattanooga State Community College gathered last week to celebrate student, staff, and faculty excellence with many events including graduations, award shows, and ceremonies. 

In addition to graduation ceremonies for credit and TCAT students, the college also highlighted the hard work of students and the many people who work to ensure a top-tier educational experience at ChattState with ceremonies like Hats Off to Excellence and The Chatty Awards. 

ChattState SkillsUSA Students Bring Home Medals in Statewide Competition

CHATTANOOGA, TN -- In April, more than 70 Chattanooga State Community College students met up with competitors from across Tennessee at the Chattanooga Convention Center to compete in SkillsUSA, a skills-based competition that offers winners medals, prizes, and, in some cases, scholarships and job placements. 

From ChattState’s TCAT, 61 students competed in 34 contests, with 45 bringing home medals. Another 16 students from the College participated in SkillsUSA, bringing home eight gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal. 

Excellence in Action: ChattState Honors Students Present at Regional Conference

CHATTANOOGA, TN – Earlier this month, a group of Chattanooga State Community College Honors Program students traveled to Jacksonville, Florida, to present their research on issues affecting the communities in Chattanooga and beyond. 

The presentations took place at the Southern Reginal Honors Council (SRHC) conference on April 4-7. ChattState is the only community college in Tennessee that is an SRHC member institution. 

Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative Announces Details For Observance Of World Quantum Day

THE CHATTANOOGAN -- Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative, in partnership with EPB, on Friday announced the launch of a six-week exploration of quantum technology in observance of World Quantum Day which is Sunday. From April 14-May 31, learners of all ages and education levels are invited to explore quantum technology through a series of activities at www.GigCityGoesQuantum.com. The effort is a continuing community-wide collaboration to prepare Chattanooga for education, jobs, and business opportunities in the emerging quantum sector.

In addition to the CQC and EPB, contributors and partners in commemorating World Quantum Day include UTC, Oak Ridge National Lab, IonQ, Hamilton County Schools, Chattanooga State Community College, Qubitekk, the Public Education Foundation, the Chattanooga Public Library, Chattanooga Technology Council, the Company Lab, the Enterprise Center, Chattanooga 2.0, the city of Chattanooga and Hamilton County.
