Chattanooga, TN --- HIV/AIDS activist, LaWanda Jones will speak to Chattanooga State Community College students on the topic of “Staying in the Fight” during the campus activity period at 10 a.m. on February 6 in the Humanities Auditorium. Ms. Jones is an advocate who champions awareness of sexually transmitted diseases, and stopping the spread of HIV. Chattanooga State, the Southeast Tennessee Development District and the Tennessee Department of Health are sponsoring her appearance as part of the activities for Black History Month.
Chattanooga, TN --- Chattanooga State Community College’s Office of Multicultural Services, Student Life and the Black Student Leadership Alliance announce a schedule of entertaining and educational activities for Black History Month. The theme of this year’s annual celebration is “At the Crossroads of Freedom and Equality: The Emancipation Proclamation and the March on Washington.” Chattanooga State students can attend featured events both on and off the main campus.

Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis to visit Chattanooga, Tenn., Oct. 3 to highlight innovative community college training program Chattanooga State Community College received $3 million grant to establish Tennessee Valley Institute for Materials Joining and Training
ATLANTA – On Wednesday, Oct. 3, Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis will tour Chattanooga State Community College to highlight U.S. Department of Labor investments that are improving training for careers in advanced materials joining. The tour will be followed by remarks and a press availability.
Chattanooga, TN --- Distinguished author and lecturer, Lee Rainie, director of the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, will speak at Chattanooga State Community College in the Humanities Auditorium on September 19th at 10 a.m. The topic of Rainie’s address is In the Land of the Networked.
Rainie will discuss how life in the age of social networking sites, mobile connectivity, and abundant online access has affected some of the basic ways that people interact and act as citizens. An example is how we now seek, share and create knowledge.
Chattanooga, TN --- The U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announce an event for local veterans featuring the Mobile Vet Center. This free event takes place on the main campus of Chattanooga State in the Humanities Auditorium on September 27 from 7:30 -12:15 p.m. Attendance is limited to the first 350 veterans who register. Free parking will be available in the Center for Engineering, Technology, Arts and Sciences (CETAS), formerly the Olan Mills Warehouse, parking lot.
Chattanooga, TN --- The Tennessee Small Business Development Center will host a seminar entitled, “Selling to Mexico,” on August 10, 2012 from 8:30 – 1:00 p.m. The seminar will take place at the INCubator located at 100 Cherokee Boulevard. The cost is $59, which includes lunch.
Chattanooga, TN --- Chattanooga State Community College will hold its 3rd Annual Family Fish Fry in July on Friday, July 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place outside of the Student Center in the heart of the main campus. The event is free and open to the public. Free parking will also be available for those who attend.
