TSBDC and CO.LAB co-host the Experience Talks Seminar Series

Chattanooga, Tenn. --- The Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) and The Company Lab (CO.LAB) will host an eight seminar series entitled, “Experience Talks,” at the Camp House located at 1427 Williams Street. The free series begins on May 16 and ends on December 5. A complimentary lunch will be served during each of the 11:30 – 1:00 p.m. sessions.

Mathematician Dr. Arthur Benjamin To Speak At Chattanooga State

Dr. Arthur Benjamin, a highly-credentialed mathematician who is also a masterfully-skilled magician, will speak at Chattanooga State Community College on Friday, March 30. His presentation, entitled “Mathemagics,” begins at 10 a.m. in the Humanities Theatre, which is located on the college’s main campus at 4501 Amnicola Highway. Dr. Bejamin’s lecture is open to the public, and admission is free.

Dr. Christopher Emdin to Speak at Chattanooga State on February 29

Dr. Christopher Emdin, a professor of science education at Teachers College, Columbia University and a nationally-acclaimed expert on urban public education, will speak at Chattanooga State Community College on Wednesday, February 29. His lecture, entitled “Reality Pedagogy: Teaching & Learning from the Student's Standpoint,” begins at 5:30 p.m. in Room 1085 of the Health Science Center, which is located on the college’s main campus at 4501 Amnicola Highway. Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.

HIV/AIDS Activist Marvelyn Brown To Speak At Chattanooga State

On Wednesday, February 1, 2012, Marvelyn Brown, an African American author and HIV/AIDS activist, will speak at Chattanooga State Community College about her life as an HIV positive female. Sponsored by Chattanooga State, the Tennessee Department of Health, and the Southeast Tennessee Development District, Brown’s presentation offers an intimate chronicle about her experiences with HIV disease while underscoring the worldwide reality that HIV infection rates continue to increase.

Chattanooga State hosts NCATC Fall Conference

Chattanooga State Community College, a national leader in technology, and the Tennessee Technology Center at Chattanooga State are hosting the fall conference of the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers (NCATC), October 5-7. The site of the conference is the Double Tree by Hilton in downtown Chattanooga.

According to the NCATC website, the organization is “a network of higher education resources that advocate and promote the use of technology applications that enhance economic and workforce development programs and services.”

Astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson Visits Chattanooga State In October

Internationally-acclaimed astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson will visit Chattanooga State Community College on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Invited to participate in a variety of interactions with students, Tyson will conclude his Chattanooga State visit with an evening presentation in the college’s Humanities Auditorium. The lecture, which begins at 6 p.m., will be held on Chattanooga State’s main campus, located at 4501 Amnicola Highway. The event is open to the public.
