Chattanooga State Schedules Commencement for August 1

Chattanooga State Community College will hold its 54th Annual Commencement exercises on Saturday, August 1 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Auditorium. The College's spring commencement ceremony was originally scheduled for May 9 but due to COVID-19, the College made the difficult decision to postpone. The August 1 commencement exercises will be combined with the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Division graduation. The College will be awarding degrees, certificates and diplomas to graduates during two ceremonies with times to be announced at a later date.

Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Names 2 Semifinalists from Chattanooga State

Chattanooga State Community College students Shalyn Landes and Gary Satin were named as two of 456 semifinalists for the highly selective Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. The pool contained 1,500 applicants attending 311 community colleges in 45 states and the District of Columbia. Selected scholars will be announced this month.

Chattanooga State Faculty Promotions and Tenure Announced

The Academic Affairs Division at Chattanooga State Community College has announced the following faculty promotions and tenure recognition approved by the Tennessee Board of Regents:

Business: Associate Professor – Michael Largent; Assistant Professor – Philip Fortin, Chris Lykins, Daniel Zink; Tenure – Michele Arpin, Jacob Stanford.

Engineering & Information Technologies: Associate Professor – Rebecca Balch, Bruce Coulter; Assistant Professor – Jeffrey Schneider; Tenure – Randy Ricketson.

ChattState Becomes Tennessee’s First Certified Bee Campus and 61st in the Nation

Chattanooga State Community College has become the 61st educational institution in the nation and the first campus in Tennessee to be certified as an affiliate of the Bee Campus USA program, designed to marshal the strengths of educational campuses for the benefit of pollinators. Chattanooga State joins more than a hundred other cities and campuses across the country united in improving their landscapes for pollinators.  

Faculty Promotions & Tenure Announced

The Academic Affairs Division at Chattanooga State Community College has announced the following faculty promotions and tenure recognition approved by the Tennessee Board of Regents:

Business: Instructor – Clomeisha Tumlin; Tenure – Philip Fortin.

Engineering & Information Technologies: Associate Professor – Lisa Miller.

2017-2018 Faculty Fellows Announced

The Chattanooga State Faculty Fellows program recognizes and supports innovative faculty who develop and implement academic projects that support scholarship and promote student success. Chattanooga State Faculty Fellowships are named for former faculty members and/or administrators who demonstrated outstanding scholarship and dedication to teaching and learning.

Merit Badge College Held at ChattState

Now in its 17th year, Chattanooga State Community College sponsored the annual Merit Badge College for 155 Boy Scouts and 40 Boy Scout leaders from the Cherokee Area Council on March 17. This day-long event provided an opportunity for scouts to earn one of 15 badges focused on STEM-related activities in science, technology, engineering & mathematics.
