Chattanooga State is proud to announce that students from the following counties have attained Dean’s List status for the 2021 spring semester. Eligibility requirements to make the Dean’s List includes students who have completed 12 or more hours of college-level work with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher for that semester. Dean’s List recognition is based on calculations at the end of the semester and cannot be updated later to reflect grade changes, such as removal of incompletes.
Rising juniors and seniors in Hamilton County who are interested in technical careers have the opportunity to apply for the BASF TECH Academy sponsored by BASF, in coordination with Chattanooga State Community College, for a week-long summer program from June 28 to July 2, 2021 on Chattanooga State’s main campus located at 4501 Amnicola Highway.
Chattanooga State Community College has announced that its 2021 Commencement ceremonies will be held throughout the week of May 10 and, “we have a lot to celebrate!” shared Brad McCormick, assistant vice president of Enrollment Services.
Thirty-five smaller in-person ceremonies will encompass all academic divisions including Business, Engineering and Information Technologies, Humanities and Fine Arts, Mathematics and Sciences, Nursing and Allied Health, and Social and Behavioral Sciences, and which also will include Collegiate High and University Parallel graduates.
Chattanooga State Community College has put together an in-person, fun, free, mouth-watering event for individuals who apply or enroll for classes this fall. Applications and Appetizers will feature free appetizers from local food truck vendors.

Building onto the success of Chattanooga State’s 7-week term format this spring, Chattanooga State Community College is now enrolling for the second 7-week term that begins March 15 and ends May 6. So far, 551 students, almost 10% of currently enrolled students, have chosen the more focused learning option.

Chattanooga State Community College will begin offering two 7-week terms during the spring 2021 semester that begins January 19. The 7-week format allows the student to take the same number of credit hours as they would normally take during a regular 15-week semester, only they are taking fewer at a time.
The 7-week format splits in half the traditional 15-week semester. Students can take 2-to-3 courses during the first 7-week term, and 2-to-3 courses during the second 7-week term, thereby completing four, five or six courses during spring semester.

The condensed 7-week term allows a student to complete one of many credit courses quickly in the divisions of Business, Engineering & Information Technologies, Math & Sciences, Humanities & Fine Arts, Nursing & Allied Health, or Social & Behavioral Sciences.
Chattanooga State’s Class of 2020 premiered its Virtual Commencement Ceremony on August 1. “Our students have worked hard to achieve academic and personal milestones,” stated Debbie Adams, vice president of student affairs.
Opening remarks by Chattanooga State President Dr. Rebecca Ashford emphasized the challenges and perseverance that the class of 2020 faced by saying, “You will go down in history as the Chattanooga State class that arguably overcame more challenges and persevered more than any other class in our 54-year history.”
