Mrs. Kathleen Majoras

Mrs. Kathleen Majoras is a long-time adjunct faculty in the Mathematics Department. She is dedicated to the success of her students, who admire and respect her ability to relate to them. Last Spring, one of her former MATH-0810 students told his advisor that it was imperative that he registers to take Mrs. Majoras MATH-0820 in the Fall; he indicated that he would wait until he knew which section she was teaching. Without a doubt she wins the respect of her students with her humble spirit. She always has a smile and loves teaching.

Jane Bustabad

Awarded the Staff Division Excellence Award, Jane Bustabad always goes out of her way to make sure that students get the best laboratory experience possible. She makes her expectations clear and is willing to help students in any way possible. Whenever a student misses a lab, she goes out of her way to contact the student and remind them that they need to make arrangements to make up their lab. She works with them and makes herself available to help.

Mrs. Toni Fountain

Awarded the Full-Time Faculty Division Excellence Award in Mathematics, Mrs. Toni Fountain is the course developer for MATH-1710 redesign and created instructional videos for the course. She taught a section of the fast track MATH-1710 as well as MATH-1720 in Spring 2015. She is very involved with the department’s Early College Hybrid Online (ECHO) program with local high schools. She chairs the MATH-1030 curriculum team. In order to be adequately prepared for the co-requisite remediation mandated by TBR effective Fall 2015, Mrs.

Evelyn M. Mobley, Ph.D.

Dr. Evelyn Mobley engages in one-on-one mentoring/development of individualized study plans for struggling A&P students. She participated in QEP (W.E. Succeed) development /pilot. She serves as a member of Teaching and Learning Academy (TLA), which is now the Faculty Center Committee. She worked on the implementation of Argos and AIM for SLO assessment. “Above & Beyond” Award Presented to Aleta Lenyard

Chattanooga, TN --- Debbie Waggoner was an exceptional Chattanooga State employee and tireless student advocate who succumbed to cancer during the 1990s. To show respect and admiration for her commitment, the Student Government Association sponsors the “Debbie Waggoner Above and Beyond Award” to recognize individuals who reach out and make a positive impact on those around them. Exemplary Mathematics & Sciences Employees Recognized

Chattanooga, TN --- The recipients of the 2013-14 Mathematics and Sciences Division Excellence Awards at Chattanooga State include Dr. Azar Raiszadeh, David Wollert, Janice Neal, Julie Franklin, and Carolyn Clark. Dr. Mosunmola George-Taylor, division dean, recently announced the award winners who were selected from a pool of nominees by members of the Division Excellence Award Committee.

Julie Franklin, Adjunct Biology Instructor

Julie Franklin joined the Microbiology team in the Life Sciences Department in Fall 2011. With a background as a Medical Technologist she brings years of clinical experience and a strong healthcare emphasis to lab instruction. She is instrumental in improving assessment in laboratory classes by assisting with the creation of pre-lab quiz questions and helping with the development of a workable way for assessing students’ work ethic in the laboratory. Julie has also shared ideas for making Microbiology lab instructional materials better organized and more student-friendly.

Janice Neal, Adjunct Mathematics Instructor

Janice has been an outstanding adjunct instructor in the Mathematics Department for several years. She works diligently with her students and is an effective tutor in the Mathematics Center. Her dedication to her students is clear in the way she teaches and interacts with them; she has done an excellent job in teaching her courses and assisting her students. Janice loves teaching and has indicated she will teach ”at any time” she is called upon. Chattanooga state needs more adjuncts like Janice. She received the Adjunct Faculty Division Excellence Award in Mathematics.

Carolyn Clark. Division Secretary

Carolyn Clark knows her job and this really shows in her performance. Carolyn came aboard as Division secretary six years ago. She always offer assistance to faculty and students around the office and in the hallways. She has a gracious smile, exhibits care, and compassion in the way she deals with faculty, staff, students, and visitors. In addition to her duties in the Division she assists with different activities including festivals around the campus as part of her College-wide service.
