Chattanooga State Launches First Student Health Clinic at a Tennessee Community College

Chattanooga State Community College announced the opening of its new on-campus student health clinic, making it the first community college in Tennessee to offer such a service. This important initiative is designed to support student well-being and enhance their academic success.

Chattanooga State’s President, Rebecca Ashford, shared that the clinic was created in response to feedback from students, who expressed difficulty accessing affordable healthcare.

No Cost Health Clinic Reaffirms Student Support at ChattState

CHATTANOOGA, TN -- Last week, Chattanooga State Community College became the first community college in Tennessee to provide an on-campus Student Health Clinic. Funded in part by a $500,000 Tennessee Department of Health grant, the clinic offers no-cost healthcare to students aged 18 and older, regardless of insurance status.  

Chattanooga State Incident Response Update

CHATTANOOGA, TN – Just before 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, Chattanooga State Community College was made aware of a threat to campus safety. Out of an abundance of caution, the College immediately issued a lockdown and began working with local authorities. Law enforcement determined the threat to be a hoax and declared the campus was safe. 

The safety of our college community is ChattState’s number one priority at all times, and Thursday’s incident confirmed that the College’s crisis procedures are effective in maintaining campus security. 

Dr. Charmayne Mulligan Named New Dean of Humanities & Fine Arts at Chattanooga State Community College

CHATTANOOGA, TN -- Chattanooga State Community College recently welcomed Dr. Charmayne Mulligan as the new Dean of Humanities & Fine Arts. Dr. Mulligan brings with her more than 20 years of experience working in higher education, nonprofit management, and journalism. 

Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative Announces Details For Observance Of World Quantum Day

THE CHATTANOOGAN -- Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative, in partnership with EPB, on Friday announced the launch of a six-week exploration of quantum technology in observance of World Quantum Day which is Sunday. From April 14-May 31, learners of all ages and education levels are invited to explore quantum technology through a series of activities at www.GigCityGoesQuantum.com. The effort is a continuing community-wide collaboration to prepare Chattanooga for education, jobs, and business opportunities in the emerging quantum sector.

In addition to the CQC and EPB, contributors and partners in commemorating World Quantum Day include UTC, Oak Ridge National Lab, IonQ, Hamilton County Schools, Chattanooga State Community College, Qubitekk, the Public Education Foundation, the Chattanooga Public Library, Chattanooga Technology Council, the Company Lab, the Enterprise Center, Chattanooga 2.0, the city of Chattanooga and Hamilton County.

Chattanooga State Celebrates Gerald McCormick with Naming Ceremony

Chattanooga State Community College names the Center for Engineering, Technology, Arts and Sciences (CETAS) in honor of Gerald McCormick, a former Tennessee House of Representatives member. McCormick served from 2004-2018 and was a longtime champion of higher education across the state. The building will now be called the Gerald McCormick Center for Engineering, Technology, Arts and Sciences. 

Chattanooga State Announces 2nd Annual Juneteenth Activities

June 13, 2022 (Chattanooga, TN) --- The Bond Arts and Culture Series, in collaboration with the Recruiting Department, has announced its Juneteenth celebration activities for Saturday, June 18, from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on the main campus of Chattanooga State Community College, 4501 Amnicola Highway, Chattanooga, TN.
