ChattState’s Lady Tigers Softball Team Ranked #1

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), on this the first day of the regular softball season, has ranked Chattanooga State Community College’s Lady Tigers softball team number one.

Ranked as eleventh in the preseason NJCAA softball polls, the Lady Tigers have beaten several other top 20 pre-season teams, in addition to some teams on the current top 20 list.

5th Annual Community Health, Fun, and Wellness Expo

The Community Health Institute at Chattanooga State Community College will host the “5th Annual Health, Fun, and Wellness Expo” Friday, April 27 from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. in the Health Science Center located on the main campus on Amnicola Highway. Numerous free health screenings and exhibits from area health professionals and wellness-related organizations will be offered at this large and comprehensive health fair that is open to the public. Parking for the event is free and easily accessible.

Golf Green opens at Chattanooga State

Chattanooga State Community College’s Landscape and Turf Management program will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at its new golf green, July 13 at 10:30 a.m. Local golf course superintendents and golf pros will be in attendance along with members of Chattanooga State’s executive staff. A putting tournament with prizes for the winners follows the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Chattanooga State Baseball and Softball Teams both Ranked #2 Nationally

As Chattanooga State basks in the success of winning the 2011 Region 7 Championships and National Tournament appearance of both the women and men’s basketball teams coached by former Vols Basketball stand-out, Jay Price, both Tigers Baseball and Lady Tigers Softball have climbed the national ranking’s ladder to garner a number two national ranking.

Tyner’s Exquisite to perform at ChattState Half-time

Tyner High Academy of Math, Science and Technology’s premier dance team, Exquisite, will perform at half-time during the last home game for Chattanooga State Community College men’s basketball team against Roane State Community College on Wednesday, February 9 at 8 p.m.

The Exquisite dance team is comprised of 15 dancers and three mangers under the supervision of faculty sponsor and dean of students at Tyner Academy, Rashaad A. Williams. Exquisite’s appearance was made possible by Chattanooga State volunteer, Leigh Ann Goebel of Hall Outdoor Advertising.

Chattanooga State Awards Memorial Health Care System Scholarships to Nursing Students

Chattanooga State Community College recently presented eight nursing students with scholarships provided by Memorial Health Care System.   Recognized for their outstanding academic performance and commitment to nursing were Julie Horton, Rose Lovelace, Mary Myers, Angela Fuller, Crystal Martens, Jaclynn Rhodes, Amy Burnett, and Tara Tucker.
