Chattanooga State Community College is growing its athletic program to include Women’s Volleyball Division II in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) beginning Fall 2018. On Monday, Interim Athletic Director Tammy Swenson received official approval from the Tennessee Board of Regents to add Volleyball to Chattanooga State’s athletic programs that already includes Baseball, Softball and Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs.
The ChattState Tigers 2017 baseball program was recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) as one of 200 colleges (at every level) and high school programs earning Team Academic Excellence Awards. The awards recognize teams coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Chattanooga State’s head softball coach, Blythe Golden, was named Coach of the Year by the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA). This past softball season marks the third consecutive appearance by the Lady Tigers in the championship tournament.
The Chattanooga State Community College baseball program is excited to announce that the 12th Annual ChattState Tigers vs. Chattanooga Lookouts exhibition game has been set for Tuesday, April 4 at 6:15 p.m.
Ticket sales start today. Prices are $5 for a general admission ticket, with all of the proceeds going toward the Chattanooga State Athletic Department. “We encourage a large crowd for this event – this is a big part of our being able to hold this game every year,” states head coach Greg Dennis.

After knocking it out of the park academically in the fall semester, the Chattanooga State baseball team begins its 2017 season with a game today and two Saturday against Georgia Highlands at Emerson, Ga.
It’s no secret that ChattState Tiger Baseball Coach Greg Dennis runs a tight ship, and that his players are expected to excel both on and off the field. Included in the team GPA of 3.36, Dennis also had four players who boasted a perfect 4.0, fourteen achieve a 3.5 or higher, and 18 who achieved a 3.0 overall. “I am especially proud of the guys that are in our outstanding Global Scholars Program, as they achieved a combined 3.75 GPA,” boasted Dennis.
