Disabilities Support Services is a program that seeks to meet the needs of students with disabilities by providing appropriate accommodations that create equal opportunities. This allows students to demonstrate their abilities at the college, to have equal access to programs and activities, and ensures the college is in compliance with state and federal civil rights legislation that prohibits discrimination against persons with disabilities. Two laws in particular govern the rights of persons with disabilities: Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (as amended, 2008).
The Disabilities Support Services office is located on the first floor of the Student Center, room S-113. Our normal office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Please contact us at (423)697-4452 during these hours, leave a message so we can return your call, or e-mail us at email@example.com. Wanda Gocher-Johnson is the coordinator of Disabilities Support Services, and she and her staff will be happy to answer your questions or provide more information.
