Non-Destructive Testing Technology - Concentration
Look inside dams, bridges, ships, and even rocket ship engines with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), a career path that uses cutting-edge technologies to prevent catastrophes without causing a single scratch. This ABET-accredited hands-on degree program prepares graduates to work in fields like oil and gas, nuclear energy, aerospace, healthcare, construction, infrastructure, and more. Your impact as an NDT technician starts here.
The program includes 3 embedded certificates:
- Non-Destructive Testing (Surface) - Certificate
- Non-Destructive Testing (Volumetric) - Certificate
- Welding & Visual Inspection - Certificate
There are 6 major Non-Destructive Testing methods:
Classes are designed to provide students with sufficient formal training hours necessary to earn Level I & II certification in all six of these methods:
- visual,
- liquid penetrant,
- magnetic particle,
- ultrasonic,
- radiographic
- eddy current
To be awarded a training certificate for each method, students must:
- complete the NDT courses with a grade of “C” or better
- and who successfully pass written and practical examinations administered and/or approved by a Level III NDT technician
Program Outcomes
Graduates of the Non-Destructive Testing program will possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to make an intelligent entry into the power production, construction, and manufacturing industries.
- the ability and knowledge to detect defects and failure mechanisms (such as cracking and corrosion)
- utilizing the different methods of testing (such as radiographic inspection)
