How can I pay for my classes at Chattanooga State?

You can apply for financial aid at StudentAid.gov, apply for the TN Reconnect Grant at TNReconnect.gov, apply for scholarships at websites like FastWeb.com, apply for Chattanooga State scholarships, or check out Chattanooga State payment plans.

How do I apply for financial aid to help pay for my classes at Chattanooga State?

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at StudentAid.gov.

You will need to complete the 2024-2025 application for summer 2025, and the 2025 - 2026 application for the fall semester. If you are 23 or older or are married, have children you support, or are a military veteran or are on active duty, you can also apply for the TN Reconnect Grant at TNReconnect.gov. There may also be other scholarships or payment plans available to you.

What if I took classes at another college?

Make sure to send all transcripts from any other colleges or universities you have attended to the Admissions Office at [email protected]. You may need all your previous college transcripts to register for classes or receive financial aid, but you may also be able to transfer credits towards your new degree.  

What if I didn’t finish high school?

You don’t need a high school transcript to enroll in a technical program at TCAT-Chattanooga, but you do have to show proof of high school completion to enroll in a degree-seeking program at a community college. Contact the Chattanooga State Testing Center to see about scheduling a high school equivalency exam or getting your G.E.D.

What If I have already taken classes at Chattanooga State?

Contact the Enrollment Services Center to see what you need to do about applying for readmission, getting back into your Chatt State account, completing an appeal for Academic Suspension, or connecting with an Academic Advisor. You may also need to complete an appeal for financial aid if you are not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) guidelines.

You can also stop by the Enrollment Services Center (ESC), located in the Student Center at the main campus during normal business hours (8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday).
