Financial Aid - Summer

Your summer financial aid eligibility—scholarships, grants, and loans—is based on your FAFSA for the current academic year, and any aid you’ve already used thus far, including at other schools. Not all scholarships and grants are available in the summer—it depends on available funding.

Once spring grades are posted, make sure you're still eligible for aid by reviewing:

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

HOPE Scholarship

You may qualify for HOPE this summer even with part-time enrollment (6+ hours), depending on your eligibility and specific exceptions. Contact Financial Aid for details.

TN Promise Scholarship

You can take fewer than 12 credit hours this summer and still receive TN Promise. It won’t count against your 5-semester limit. Be sure to:

  • Stay eligible after spring.
  • Complete 8 hours of community service before the summer deadline.

TN Reconnect Grant (for community colleges)

You can attend part-time (6+ hours) this summer and receive TN Reconnect if you're still eligible after spring—no extra steps required.

Loans

If you haven’t used all your Direct Loan funds this year, you can request summer loans using the Loan Modification form in TigerWeb.

Types of Students

TCAT Students

If you’ve been enrolled in ChattState’s TCAT and are continuing this summer (and not graduating this spring), you should already have your summer aid—just be sure you meet SAP and stay continuously enrolled.

Taking Classes Elsewhere?

  • ChattState students taking classes at another school: Complete a Consortium Agreement to use your ChattState aid.
  • Visiting students from another school: Contact your home school’s Financial Aid Office. ChattState cannot award you aid.

Student Employment

If you worked as a student employee during fall or spring, or are interested in working this summer, contact your supervisor or the Financial Aid Office.
