Chattanooga State Community College and the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) have reached a universal rideshare agreement effective immediately. The agreement allows all Chattanooga State students, faculty, and staff to ride CARTA for free with a valid ChattState ID through August 31, 2022.

Eligibility requirements to make the Dean’s List includes students who have completed 12 or more hours of college-level work with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher for that semester. Dean’s List recognition is based on calculations at the end of the semester and cannot be updated later to reflect grade changes, such as removal of incompletes.

Chattanooga State Community College is proud to announce that Leanna Harmon, a Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society member (PTK), has been named a 2021 New Century Transfer Scholar and will receive a $2,250 scholarship. Achieving the highest score in Tennessee during the All-USA Academic Team competition, Leanna earned the right to represent the state of Tennessee based on academic achievement, leadership, service, and other significant accomplishments.
Rising juniors and seniors in Hamilton County who are interested in technical careers have the opportunity to apply for the BASF TECH Academy sponsored by BASF, in coordination with Chattanooga State Community College, for a week-long summer program from June 28 to July 2, 2021 on Chattanooga State’s main campus located at 4501 Amnicola Highway.
Macy Tidmore, a Hamilton County Collegiate High and Global Scholar student at Chattanooga State Community College, has been named a 2021 Coca-Cola Academic Team Bronze Scholar and recipient of a $1,000 scholarship. Scholar selections were based on scores the student earned in the All-USA Academic Team competition. More than 2,000 Phi Thea Kappa (PTK) Competitive Scholarship applications were received this year from which 150 were chosen for distinction, which means Macy’s application ranked in the top seven percent of applicants.

Collegiate High at Chattanooga State senior Braxton Mahr was recently named a 2020 National Merit Semifinalist. Braxton, whose interest lies in computer science, is a Global Scholars Honors Program student and a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
Chattanooga State’s Class of 2020 premiered its Virtual Commencement Ceremony on August 1. “Our students have worked hard to achieve academic and personal milestones,” stated Debbie Adams, vice president of student affairs.
Opening remarks by Chattanooga State President Dr. Rebecca Ashford emphasized the challenges and perseverance that the class of 2020 faced by saying, “You will go down in history as the Chattanooga State class that arguably overcame more challenges and persevered more than any other class in our 54-year history.”
Now in her junior year at Hamilton County Collegiate High at Chattanooga State, Sasha Hitachi is has continued to build onto her impressive resume as a flutist. Earlier this year, Sasha was only one of six applicants from the region selected to play in a prestigious masterclass with renowned Swiss flutist Emmanuel Pahud. This summer, Sasha spent part of her school break traveling and performing with the National Youth Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in New York and the New World Symphony Center in Miami.
