Go back to Nursing - A.A.S. (Transition) program.
TCAT Articulation Agreement
In accordance with the TBR Systemwide Articulation Agreement, graduates of a Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program are eligible to apply for admission into the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Nursing “LPN to RN” Pathway at participating community colleges.
As part of this agreement, eligible TCAT graduates benefit from the following:
- exemption from the A.A.S. Nursing program entrance exam
- no prior LPN work experience required for admission consideration
- opportunity to receive college credit for completion of the A.A.S. Nursing program's Transition Pathway
To qualify for these exemptions, applicants must:
- hold an active, unencumbered Tennessee or multi-state LPN license before the start of classes
- have completed a TCAT LPN program within the past three years of enrollment
- All standard Nursing program admission requirements must still be met, including the following:
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA in required general education courses
- Complete all eight prerequisite courses (including applicable science course time limits) before beginning nursing classes.
Admission into the Nursing program remains competitive and depends on available space. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance.
Applicants exempt from the A.A.S. Nursing program entrance exam will submit their TCAT LPN HESI Exit Exam scores instead of the ATI TEAS score.
- The Nursing Program converts the HESI score by multiplying it by 0.09, which represents 9%.
- This converted score can be entered directly into the Nursing Points Calculator.
