First Shannon Brown Honorary Scholars Recognized

The first recipients of the Chattanooga State Foundation’s Shannon Brown Honorary Scholarship were recently recognized at a scholarship luncheon held in the Michael P. Hennen Hospitality and Culinary Center located on the main campus of Chattanooga State Community College.

The Shannon Brown Honorary Scholarship is a tribute to a local hospitality leader and entrepreneur in our community. The scholarship helps to removes financial barriers for students entering the hospitality and tourism degree program at Chattanooga State in one of the four concentrations: culinary arts, food and beverage management, hotel management and tourism.

The first three Shannon Brown Honorary Scholars at Chattanooga State are:

·      Latisha Abernathy, double concentration, Hotel Management and Tourism Management

·      Jacob “Cody” Garner, Culinary Arts

·      Robert Locke, Culinary Arts

Julie and Shannon Brown, owners of JSB Holdings (http://www.jsbhd.net/) in Chattanooga, have successfully opened more than a dozen Zaxby’s Restaurants in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area. In 2015, Mrs. Brown established the scholarship to honor her husband.
