Molly is enrolled in the Medical Assisting program at the Chattanooga Technical College in Chattanooga, TN.  She ran against 10 other student members from various Tennessee Colleges. The 135 delegates attending the conference engaged in the democratic process by carefully considering each candidate and electing seven state officers to serve the membership for the 2017-2018 year.  Molly was honored to attain the position of Tennessee Postsecondary SkillsUSA Historian.

The newly elected state officer team includes: President Austin Cox, NE State Community College; Vice President Hank Holleman, Knoxville Technical College; Secretary Jeremy Martin, Nashville Technical College; Treasurer Derrick Garner, Paris Technical Institute; Reporter Shellie Thomas, Pulaski Technical College; Parliamentarian Herbert Joyce Jr., Memphis Technical College; Historian Molly Sweetland, Chattanooga Technical College.

The new state officers attended leadership training on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Tennessee Board of Regents office in Nashville. This training provides new state officers with the necessary knowledge to fulfill their assigned duties while laying the foundation for both personal and professional growth. Molly will be touring the State Capital building, meeting with congressional members, and will attend Governor Haslam’s State of the State address in January. During the congressional visits, Molly and her fellow officers will be advocating for both funding and support of Career and Technical Education in Tennessee.
