Visit Chattanooga

Bordering the Tennessee River Park, the 150-acre main campus has an air of tranquil beauty with majestic trees, flower gardens, flowing fountains and ponds. It is also an eco-friendly environment where Canadian Geese, ducks, hawks, cranes and other forms of wildlife have a permanent home. Sculptures by world-renowned artists and students are displayed throughout the campus and in the nationally acclaimed Outdoor Museum of Art.

Scheduling a Campus Visit

The Office of Recruiting and Orientation hosts campus visits on various days throughout the year. Each visit consists of a brief information session, followed by a student-guided campus tour. The total duration is approximately 1 hour.

It is recommended that you schedule your visit at least two weeks prior to your visit, as Chattanooga State is a popular destination for many prospective students. There are a limited number of Campus Visits offered throughout the year and they tend to fill up quickly. The Office of Recruiting and Orientation does not schedule or permit walk-on campus tours during official college closings, special events, and holidays.

Family / Individual Visits

For the safety of the Chattanooga State community, Campus Visits are currently limited to one family of no more than four individuals. Visits are offered on various days throughout the year. Please see the calendar at the bottom of this page to determine the best time to schedule your visit!

Group Visits

Group Visits are for groups of six or more guests, and must be requested at least 14 business days before the requested date. The Recruiting and Orientation Office typically hosts Group Campus Visits on Tuesdays and Thursdays for up to two hours. Special Group Visits are offered to groups such as:

  • Religious and Community-based Organizations
  • Elementary, Middle, or High Schools/Organizations
  • Family Reunion Participants
  • Tourists

To schedule a Group Visit you must fill out a Campus Visit Request Form. If interested, please contact Shirley Moore at shirley.moore@chattanoogastate.edu to receive a form. Once requested, you will receive a confirmation when your tour is officially booked.

Special Admissions Visitation Dates

The Office Recruiting and Orientation hosts various events for our prospective students. These events are designed to welcome high school juniors, seniors, and non-traditional students, along with their parents/guardians to our campus to experience firsthand the excitement our students live every day.

Tiger Day

* For the health and safety of the Chattanooga State community, Tiger Days are suspended until further notice.*

You’ve heard about the campus, its faculty, and all of our scholarly love. Now, we invite all prospective students to come and experience what life on campus is like.

During Tiger Day, you will have an opportunity to meet the Chattanooga State family and witness the rich diversity of backgrounds and interests represented in our student body. You will be able to speak with faculty and staff about your college plans and beyond, and learn how the entire campus community will work together with you to help you achieve your dream. You will have the opportunity to have any questions about Chattanooga State answered and learn more!

Tiger Days takes place on a limited number of Friday mornings. You can reserve your spot on the calendar at the bottom of this page. Tiger Days will be labeled. We look forward to having you on campus for this very special event.

Making the Most of Your Tour

Below are five steps to make the most of your college tour:

  1. ARRIVE EARLY
Many schools consider demonstrated interest when evaluating your applications. Show your institutions of interest how committed you are to learning about their school by being punctual and arriving to your scheduled visit at least 15 minutes early. This will also help you account for parking and finding your meeting place.

  2. DRESS APPROPRIATELY
Typically, tours involve a lot of walking. Select a pair of comfortable shoes to wear during the tour. Dress for the weather; if there is rain in the forecast, bring an umbrella or rain jacket. If it is cool outside, bring a sweatshirt.

  3. COME PREPARED
Conduct preliminary research on the institution you are looking to visit. This will help both you and your tour guide when addressing your questions or concerns.

  4. ASK QUESTIONS
Would you like to know about specific program offerings? How much variety there is in the cafeteria? Now is the perfect time to engage a current student for their perspective. You have the questions. We have the answers.

  5. MAKE A GOOD IMPRESSION
Have you ever heard of the term "networking"? It can begin here. Your ambassador may be the first individual you share your academic and professional aspirations with. Start off establishing a strong foundation to carry forth into your undergraduate journey and beyond.
