Dr. Caitlin Jones, marimba concert
Sunday, September 21, 2025
2:30 pm
HUM Building
Room:
Theatre

Dr. Caitlin Jones will be performing the solo five-octave marimba work Thinking Songs by Lukas Ligeti in its entirety. Featuring five distinct movements, the piece is expansive in terms of length, content, and marimba technique, and displays compositional influences from both Western Classical music and African music. Thinking Songsstands as a solo marimba work in a league of its own that has solidified its place in the marimba repertoire. This is a preview performance for festivals in Vienna and Budapest featuring the music of Lukas Ligeti in October 2025.
