Nicholas Hartline is an Instructor of Music at Chattanooga State Community College, where he directs the Symphonic Band, Chamber Music Ensemble, and teaches clarinet and saxophone. He received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in Music Education and Clarinet Performance. His teachers include Nikolasa Tejero, Emily Bowland, and Steve Tonkinson. Mr. Hartline maintains an active career as teacher and performer, serving several high schools and colleges in Tennessee and Georgia. He also serves on the faculties of Southern Adventist University and Covenant College as an adjunct instructor. Mr. Hartline has performed with the Chattanooga Symphony, the Huntsville Symphony, the Knoxville Opera, and as a guest soloist with several orchestras. As a chamber musician, Mr. Hartline performs with several small ensembles and is co-founder of 4Reeds, Triptych Winds, and No One Two Reed Trio. In the summer of 2016, the clarinet quartet 4Reeds was invited to present a lecture recital of music by Astor Piazzola at the International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest 2016 in Lawrence, Kansas. Mr. Hartline is also co-director of the River City Clarinet Winter Festival - a clarinet choir festival that draws participants from all over the US.
