Position Description

Position Summary
  • Federal/Institutional Work Study Student (Library Archives)
Typical Duties and Responsibilities

Student assistants perform a variety of jobs in the college’s archive, located in the Kolwyck Library and Information Commons. The Chattanooga State Archive is responsible for acquiring, processing, digitizing, and preserving the history of the college.

Responsibilities include:

  •          Scanning photographs, manuscripts, pamphlets, and books
  •          Retrieving and reshelving archival materials and books
  •          Arranging and describing unprocessed archival collections
  •          Data entry
  •          Dusting

This job will also require some shifts at the library’s Public Service desk and/or in Technical Services.

Required Qualifications
  •          Able to work independently and produce high quality, thorough, and accurate work
  •          Ability to follow detailed written instructions
  •          Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  •          Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  •          Effective written and oral communication skills
  •          Interest in history or libraries is a plus
Work Experience Preferred Qualifications Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Able to push heavy book trucks, lift materials above head, able to life 50lbs on occasion, and ability to work around dust
