The Chattanooga State Community Health Institute will host the 12th annual Health and Wellness Fair on Friday, April 12 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Chattanooga State’s Health Science Center located at 4501 Amnicola Highway. The purpose of the event is to promote health and wellness to students, employees, and the greater Chattanooga area. The event is free and open to the public and will have free parking.
It will feature exhibits and screenings from local health professionals, as well as information on healthcare careers offered at Chattanooga State. Mammograms by the CHI Memorial mobile bus will be available and require pre-registration by calling (423) 495-4040. In addition, its LUNG bus will be onsite and appointments can be scheduled by calling (423) 495-LUNG (5864).
Additional screenings include blood pressure, asthma, HIV, and more. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s department will conduct “Operation Medicine Cabinet” a drug take-back program where anyone can safely turn in unwanted medications for proper legal disposal. The dental hygiene students will be providing screenings for tooth decay and periodontal disease. The receptionist for the Chattanooga State Dental Hygiene clinic will be available to make appointments for x-rays, cleanings, and sealants at a highly discounted rate.
Registration for exhibitors is only available online on a first-come basis and is expected to fill to capacity. Exhibitors are encouraged to register by the March 20 priority deadline. There is no fee to exhibit. Health practitioners are encouraged to provide free screenings and give-away items as appropriate.
