Welcome

In the Fall of 2010, we will begin our eighth year of the of training actors for professional careers at Chattanooga State.

We invite you to apply for admission to this unique training program.  Why?

We are confident that by studying at Chattanooga State, you can significantly optimize your chances for success in this demanding field. Plus, the Professional Actor Training Program affords you the opportunity to pursue your dream at a fraction of the cost of other training schools! Tuition for a full year is only $ 3,003!

We offer the newest discoveries in actor training. The curriculum is modeled after The New Actors Workshop, a training program in New York City founded by George Morrison, Mike Nichols, and Paul Sills. For 10 years, Rex Knowles and Sherry Landrum taught and administered the program at The New Actors Workshop and were mentored by these three theatre visionaries.

The training is intense, yet our style creates a supportive environment. True learning emerges not from a fearful response to authoritarian demands that is common in most professional training programs, but from a courageous exploration of the craft led by skilled, patient teachers who guide you into becoming an autonomous, spontaneous, self-reflective artist.

We have an excellent faculty that will support, encourage, and lead you through the personal, transformative experience of professional actor training.

If you have questions, please feel free to call us at 423-697-3246 or drop us an email at rex.knowles@chattanoogastate.edu

We look forward to working with you.
