Testing Center
The Testing Center provides test administration and proctoring for Chattanooga State students and distance learners, placement testing as well as an official GED Testing site for this region.

Important Deadlines
Option 1: Fill out the registration form and mail in with a check for $35. Please choose alternate dates and provide an up-to-date phone number to reach you if your dates are taken. Only those providing a self-stamped envelope will receive a confirmation.
Option 2: Fill out the registration form and come to Room 122 in the IMC Building. Cash or check can be used.
College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
CLEP is used to grant credit for certain college level courses
- Find out ChSCC policies regarding which CLEP exams will be granted credit and how many credits it will award by contacting the admissions office or academic adviser
- Fill out the registration form and bring it to the IMC Building Room 122 with a $20 administration fee
- CLEP exams are normally given on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. If another time is necessary, please speak with the testing center personnel
- The exam fee is due the day scheduled and is $77. You may pay by check or credit card.
- Most exams are 90 minutes long and except for Composition tests include mostly multiple-choice questions. Results are given at the end of the exam except for those exams with essays which take 3-4 weeks to receive the results.

General Education Development (GED)
The General Development Test (GED) for a High School Equivalency Diploma is administered at the Chattanooga State Testing Center at 7:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. every Wednesday each month except during final exams and school holidays and closings.
A reservation is required.
There is a $65. Fee for testing and $13. For re-test fee for each retest administered.
All applicants must first complete the Official Practice Test through their Adult Education Division (call 423/697-2529 for scheduling in Chattanooga) before registering for the test.
After completion of the OPT test, come to the testing center (Room 122 of the IMC building on Chattanooga State’s campus) and bring:
- Official OPT results
- Photo I.D. such as drivers license
- $65 fee in cash or check
You will complete an application which takes about 20 minutes
Results are mailed three to four weeks after you take the exam to the address on your demographics form unless it changes. Go to http://www.gedpractice.com for further information
