Scholarships

ELIGIBILITY FOR ACADEMIC SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP

The Academic Service Scholarship covers in-state tuition & fees and provides an allowance for books & supplies. In return, the student is required to complete a work assignment as mandated by the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Selections are made on the basis of academic achievement. Economic need will be considered as a factor only when all other conditions appear equal.

Initial recipients must meet all of the following qualifications:

Apply for and be accepted as a Chattanooga State student
Complete the FAFSA
Enroll for a minimum of six (6) credit hours each semester (awards pro-rated on credit hours)
Must not have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree
Not enrolled in a “special” student status
Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.9 or minimum GED score of 60
Transfer students must have successfully completed 12 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (students with less than 12 credit hours will be considered as first-time freshmen)

Failure to fulfill qualifications of awarded scholarships during any semester will result in forfeiture of the scholarship for the following semester. The renewal qualifications are as follows:

Enroll and maintain at least 6 credit hours per semester
Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA with no semester average below a 2.5
Satisfactorily complete work obligation on a semester basis

Should the student not attend any semester where the scholarship is offered, the scholarship will be cancelled. The student must then reapply.
