SAS exists for the purpose of enhancing students’ academic performance by increasing their GPA, thus enlarging the number of Chattanooga State graduates. This is achieved by offering tutoring services, writing instruction, study groups, workshops, mentoring support, resource materials and academic monitoring.
Learning Support provides introductory courses for students who need additional help with reading, writing, and math to become fully college ready.
Students can request support services from The Learning Center (TLC), located in IMC 125, for any class they need help with. Tutoring by peer and professional tutors with expertise in reading, writing, study skills mathematics, science and other subjects is available upon request.
In addition, TLC provides test preparation for students whose initial test scores on the ACT, SAT, ASSET, or COMPASS puts them below college level. TLC’s test preparation allows many students to retest at a higher level, which allows them to enroll in either basic or college level courses.
