Sociology

Course Descriptions

Sociology is the study of social life, social change, and the causes and consequences of human behavior.  Sociology explores the development and structure of social groups, organizations, and societies and how individuals are integrated into and interact within these contexts.  Since its inception in the early nineteenth century, sociology has been concerned with the progression of modern societies.  Sociology seeks answers to the basis of human behavior, the role of the individual in society, the creation and recreation of social inequalities, how social systems work and the social context of human action.
