Graduation applications are due the fall term prior to completion of
course work. The application initiates the processes for the
degree/certificate award, diploma printing and ceremony participation. The
application is due October 31st in each academic year.
Students should see their academic advisor during their first
semester at CSTCC to create an educational plan. The educational plan will
include course requirements and the term those courses should be taken.
Continue with your assigned advisor unless you change majors and register
each semester during early registration.
Graduation is the process of granting degrees and certificates to
students who have successfully completed program requirements. Posting of
the credentials to the transcripts is done at the end of the term in which
all requirements are completed.
All associate degree candidates are required to test for general
achievement by taking the exit exam. Major-specific testing may also be
required. All exit testing must be completed before the Records Office can
confirm your degree or issue a diploma. If a student fails to take the exit
exam(s) but has completed all other requirements during the fall semester
they may take the exam(s) in the spring and have their credential posted as
completed in the spring. The exit exam is not given in the summer. To
receive notification of the exam dates a graduation application must be on
file in the Records Office.
A grade of “C” or better is required in all prerequisite courses
and in specific courses listed in the program summary of required hours.
Review your grades after each semester and be sure to adjust your class
schedule for next term if a “C” or better is not earned.
All incomplete (I) grades must be removed. If incomplete grades in
courses required for your degree or certificate are not removed prior to two
weeks of the end of the term your credential will not be posted until the
following term.
Commencement is the ceremony that celebrates your achievements.
All degree and certificate applicants for graduation for a given academic
year (fall, spring, or summer) may participate in the annual commencement
exercise in May. Applicants will receive a letter concerning the
commencement date and time. The letter will also include information about
how to order a cap and gown. Cap and gown orders must be in by the end of
February.
Your name will appear on your diploma and in the Commencement
Program as it appears in our student database. If this is not correct,
submit a name change to the Records Office with copy of your Social Security
card. Unless you notify the Graduation Analyst your name will be included in
the Commencement Program regardless of previous privacy restriction
requests.
