REALTIME REPORTING

This two-year program is approved by the National Court Reporters Association and prepares students for a high-tech, potentially well paying profession in one of three specialties: judicial court reporting, broadcast captioning, and CART reporting for the hearing impaired. The judicial court reporting concentration trains students for careers in the legal profession while broadcast captioning primes students for careers for the translation of speech-to-text in the world of television. CART reporting students develop skills as a speech-to-text translator for the deaf or hard-of-hearing population, providing instantaneous text translation in education, civic, and corporate settings.

Realtime Career Concentrations:

Our Judicial/Court reporting program is the only public program in Tennessee approved by the National Court Reporters Association.

scopist certificate may be obtained in one-year. A scopist is trained to be an editor or proofreader for a court reporter, and students may then work in the field while obtaining a two- year certification in realtime reporting or court reporting.
