Transition Programs - LPN and Paramedic to RN Curriculum

The purpose of the LPN and Paramedic to RN Transition Programs is to offer an accelerated curriculum track for LPN's and paramedics who wish to pursue the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing and RN licensure for upgrading of both degree and professional skills. The Transition Programs are an adaptation of the associate degree nursing curriculum that recognizes prior knowledge and skills. (For information on becoming an LPN, call 423-697-4447 or 697-3332 to become a paramedic)

LPNs and Paramedics must provide documentation of at least 400 hours of employment within the past two years as an LPN or Paramedic to qualify for admission to this program. LPNs and Paramedics accepted into the Transition Programs must successfully complete either NS 024 (LPN's) or NS 027 (Paramedics) in order to receive credit for the first two semesters in the nursing curriculum. Transition students then complete the remaining clinical nursing courses in the program of study. The transition course is offered during the day each year during the summer term. The night program begins new classes every two years. The next transition into the night program will be summer 2012.

"It is important for me to become an RN because, even though I am an LPN,
I want to increase my knowledge and skills so I can better care for my clients."
Shannon
