Academic Advising Information

As a pre-nursing student scheduling classes, take the following into consideration:

Since all nursing program prerequisites must be met prior to enrollment in nursing courses, complete the prerequisites first. Do not postpone taking chemistry and transitional studies courses.
Because of the demanding nature of the nursing curriculum, students are encouraged to complete general education courses prior to entering the sequence of nursing courses. This will lighten the credit hour load while in nursing.
Following completion of the chemistry and transitional studies prerequisites, pre-nursing students are encouraged to take the biology and psychology courses first. Followed by the remaining general education courses.
Factors to take into consideration when sequencing general education courses:
- PY 101 (General Psychology) must be completed prior to PY 217 (Growth and Development), if taken prior to entering the Nursing Program.
All curriculum courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or better in order to meet graduation requirements.
Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology must have been taken within five years of enrollment in the first nursing course.
