The purpose of the “Motorsports Initiative”

  In response to exciting job opportunities and widespread interest in America’s most popular sport – Racing – Chattanooga State Technical Community College is introducing a “Motorsports Initiative” into a number of the college’s career and transfer programs beginning fall 2005 by infusing into existing coursework practical applications from the motorsports industry.

Are there any new courses?
This fall, you can take a new course titled Motorsports: Business, Regulations, Economics and History. You will learn the history of motorsports, explore the motorsports industry, and learn about popular drivers. This one credit hour course is not part of any degree or diploma program but can be used as an elective or special interest course.

Is there financial aid available?
Yes, a number of
financial aid opportunities are available to students including work-study programs, academic scholarships, Pell grants, student loans, and lottery scholarships. Any student enrolled in a diploma program is eligible for the Wilder-Naifeh Technical Skills Grant, a $1,250 award, which covers nearly all of the tuition costs for a one-year program. Will there be job placement?
Motorsports is a $475 billion industry and there are many job opportunities in a wide variety of fields. For all Chattanooga State students and graduates, job placement services are available. These services include resume writing and interviewing workshops.
