CURRICULUM

The Hamilton County Middle College High School (MCHS) represents a collaborative effort between the Hamilton County Department of Education and Chattanooga State Technical Community College. The Middle College High School, located on the main campus of Chattanooga State, opened in August 2001, is an innovative model that allows students to get both high school and college credit while completing high school. Students also have the opportunity to earn their associate degree along with earning their high school diploma.

MCHS students will have access to special guidance and mentoring programs, an enriched curriculum and instruction that affords students the opportunity to earn high school and college units simultaneously. All MCHS students will enroll in the college's highly successful College Success retention program. In this program, students meet in small focus groups with an instructor and mentors to explore academic, societal and personal issues. Further, they will explore career opportunities and build a portfolio.
