Lydia Melvin


Lydia Melvin, author of South of Here (New Issues Press, 2005), is a former recipient of the Jay C. and Ruth Halls Poetry Fellowship (University of Wisconsin-Madison's Institute for Creative Learning) & the Third place winner of the 2006 Student Writing Contest sponsored by The Atlantic Monthly. A former finalist for Yale Younger Series Book Prize (2002), Stan & Tom Wick Book Prize (2003), and Paris Review Book Prize (2003), she is currently working on her second & third manuscripts while attending SUNY-Binghamton. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Paterson Literary Review, Kestrel, Crab Orchard Review, Cream City Review, Diner, hubbub, Obsidian III, and others.
