AUTO BODY REPAIR

In the auto body repair program at Chattanooga State, the students receive complete and current instruction in the practices and procedures used in repairing and refinishing vehicles. Beginning with auto construction, the program progresses through repair techniques for all body parts. Major emphasis is placed on hands-on activities which are essential to the development of knowledge and skills required to become a successful technician. Automotive body repair technicians straighten bent frames, remove dents, replace parts crumpled beyond repair, and paint and refinish the car body and the interior and exterior parts attached to it. Also stressed is diagnosing damages and estimating the cost of repairs. Students completing this program are qualified to take certification tests of the National Institute for Automotive service Excellence.

Note: This competency based program is designed to be completed in one year (1290 clock hours). Students register for AB 000 each term until all competencies are mastered. Some students may need more than 1290 clock hours in order to achieve the level of competency required to receive the certificate.
