Miscellaneous Resources
Tennessee Technological University (TTU) has a website that details all courses for each semester at Chattanooga State. The website address is: http://www.tntech.edu/ISEE/offcampus.htm. Click on the semester for the Off Campus Offerings and scroll down until you see Chattanooga State. This gives the name of the courses, the time, date, instructor, and room number. If students need to speak with their instructor, they must contact the department at TTU.
This site contains for improving student success and retention. While the information primarily targets instructors, there is an online student self assessment that students can take to evaluate their own strengths and weaknesses.
This site has a variety of study skills resources on topics including studying, classroom participation, learning with others, online learning, reading skills, writing skills, math, and science and technology.
This site contains links to reading, writing, and speech resources as well as links to other resources beneficial to students including such topics as test taking, learning styles, studying science, self-help, and financial aid.
This site contains a variety of practice tests for many entrance exams, including ACT, SAT, and Nursing. The site also contains helpful information on preparing for exams including a variety of vocabulary building resources.
"The College Student Network was created to help college students overcome the myriad obstacles we face in pursuit of a higher education. [The designers] hope CSN becomes the dominant tool for research, problem solving, collaboration, and networking for college students across the world." The site contains its own academic search engine as well as resources on academic subjects, student life, and career planning.
This site by Joe Landsberger contains a variety of handouts on learning skills, includying headings on Preparing to Learn, Studying, Classroom Participation, Learning with Others, Reading Skills, Writing Skills, Webtruth, Math, and Science and Technology.
Although designed for K-12 students, this site has a variety of study tips and learning strategies for students.
While this program is actually geared to taking notes for students who are deaf and hard of hearing, it offers some excellent tips on becoming better notetakers in general. The site does require the user to register and provide a username and password. You must disable the popup blocker or hold the CTRL key when clicking on links.
"The goal of this nonprofit site is to help high school students meet the New York State Regents requirements in English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies." However, Chattanooga State students may find the site useful as a review site for some of their courses.
This site provides access to a variety of free online resources from federal agencies in the following subject areas: Arts & Music, Health & Phys Ed, History & Soc Studies, Language Arts, Math, and Science.
