Photography
Photography in the Fine Arts Department at Chattanooga State acknowledges the history and tradition of the medium while exploring ways that technology is helping to shape its future. The emphasis on student learning begins by building core skills with the camera, while using state of the art labs, both wet (darkroom) and dry (digital) to enhance the student’s unique aesthetic. As a department within the Humanities and Fine Arts Division students work towards A.A. and A.S. degrees and subsequent transfer. Our majors have matriculated to every university in the state, some with scholarship support.
Students also pursue their academic and artistic goals by transferring to some of the best art schools in the country such as SCAD, NOSSI and Massachusetts College of Art. Others opt to explore careers in journalism, freelance or design. The curriculum is taught by an accomplished, dedicated faculty who routinely exhibit and publish their own unique work.
