Humanities & Fine Arts

Who are we? Where did we come from? Why are we here? What is the good? What is beauty? The humanities explore the ways in which people, throughout the ages, have struggled with these and similar questions. The mission of the humanities department is to guide students in expanding their knowledge and understanding of the human world in which they live, helping them develop the oral, written, and performance skills they need to be, not only good students, but good citizens in a world with ever-shrinking boundaries.

The new Don Andrews Writing and Photography Center

The Writing Center at Chattanooga State Community College offers a supportive academic environment that empowers students to become more effective and confident writers. We are committed to providing high quality tutoring for writers across all disciplines and at all skill levels, because we believe that learning to write is a life-long process. We strive to promote independent thinking, and we feel that students learn best when actively engaged in their own writing. We work to create an accessible, active, and collaborative Writing Center community, which seeks to fulfill the college’s mission of “transforming the lives of individuals.”

The Writing Center is located in IMC-201 (second floor). More Information
