Grant General Information Eligibility

Federal Pell Grant

  • Funded by the federal government and does not have to be repaid.
  • Award amount is based on a student;s financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and enrollment status.
  • Awards are adjusted based on number of hours enrolled if less than full-time (12 hours).
  • Maximum award for 2009-2010 academic year is $5350
  • Awarded to undergraduate, degree-seeking students who have not already obtained a bachelor's degree.
  • Students registering for all Flex/RODP classes (classes that start after regular classes) are subject to pro-ration (reduction from original grant amount due to delayed starting time).

SEOG

  • Funded by the federal government and does not have to be repaid.
  • Amount of SEOG funds are limited, priority is given to students who qualify for PELL and complete their FAFSA early.
  • Maximum Award is $600 per academic year
  • There is no guarantee that every eligible student will receive a SEOG award.
  • Awarded to undergraduate, degree-seeking students who have not already obtained a bachelor's degree.

TSAA

  • Need-based grant for undergraduate students attending eligible Tennessee institutions
  • Funds are awarded on a "first-come- first-serve" basis
  • Must be a resident of Tennessee, U.S Citizen
  • Enrolled in a degree-seeking program
  • Meet TSAA's need requirements based on the FAFSA

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)

  • ACG will provide up to $750 for the first year of undergraduate study
  • ACG will provide up to $1300 for the second year of undergraduate study
  • The ACG award is in addition to the Federal Pell Grant

    Rigorous high school program
  • Must complete a FAFSA application
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be a student in the first or second year of post-secondary education
  • Must be eligible for Federal Pell Grant
  • Completed a rigorous high school program as determined by the state or local education agency and recognized by the Secretary of Education
  • 2nd year students must also maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
  • The program will be available for students who graduated from high school after January 1, 2005.
