Transferring to UTK All engineering programs require a certain amount of general education courses. For the purpose of engineering programs at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, clusters of general education courses have been identified and developed. Students transferring to UTK are advised to contact the university directly to be sure that the courses selected at Chattanooga State will meet the needs of the general education component required. The following courses have been identified by Chattanooga State as meeting this need. However, as with all courses being transferred, the university will make the final approval. A minimum of 18 semester hours credit of acceptable courses is required to meet the general education component at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Courses may simultaneously meet more than one requirement. Note that the courses listed may not represent the total selection available. Pick one course from Global/Societal Context: Pick one course from Contemporary Issues: PHIL 2230, SO 120 Pick two courses from Humanities or Arts: THEA 1030, THEA 1110, THEA 1120, THEA 2220, ENGL 2110, ENGL 2120, ENGL 2210, ENGL 2220, ENGL 2830, HIST 2010, HIST 2020, HIST 1110, HIST 1120, MUS 1030, MUS 1130 Pick one course from Multicultural Studies: HIST 2130, HUM 2030, SO 216 Pick one course from Social Sciences: HIST 2130, PY 101, SO 110, SO 120, SO 214 Students in the BSEE program are required to take the following course as part of the their general education requirements: PHIL 2230 All students are required to have the following courses: ENGL 1010, ENGL 1020 The following courses are generally part of the engineering programs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. However, students are instructed to contact the university for courses specifically required in their program of study.
