Associate of Applied Science Degree in Engineering Technology To be accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) The primary objective of this program is to provide the basic technical theory, principles, and practices to enable the graduate to work in the construction industry. Opportunities may be available with testing firms, materials suppliers, specialty contractors, construction safety, subcontractors, homebuilders, general contractors, land surveyors, and inspection service bureaus. The program is intended for a student planning on immediate employment as an engineering technician, but when the concentration is accredited by TAC/ABET it will provide a 2+2 transfer to a baccalaureate program. Career Opportunities In the Construction Engineering Technology concentration, there are a total of 64 semester hours required. A grade of ‘C’ or better is required in all courses that are specified for the major. The only exception is the elective courses. There is an approved list from which the humanities, social/behavior science, and technical elective courses can be selected. The following table summarizes the degree requirements.
