Process Operations Certificate Program

Process operators help
monitor, operate, control, and maintain equipment and instrumentation in
industrial plants to produce a final product.

The Chemical Process
Operations program is a two semester technical certificate program that
trains graduates for employment as process operators/ technicians in the
chemical, manufacturing, refining, petrochemical, polymer, pharmaceutical,
plastics, food and beverage, water/sewage, utilities and pulp/paper
industries.

The program also provides
supplemental training for persons currently employed in the field of
process technology or for those changing to a position as a process
operator.

The program combines
classroom study and practical hands –on experience. The courses in the
program emphasize safe and efficient work practices, teamwork,
communication skills, and real world case studies.

and Employment

The successful graduate
of the Chemical Process Operations program securing a position will enjoy
a wage and benefit package comparable to the best in the region.

The starting salaries for
chemical process operators is in the range of $12 to $14 per hour with
additional shift differentials, overtime, and benefits packages. A
well-trained and experienced technician can earn up to $20 per hour.

The student considering a
career as a process operator/technician should realize that the process
technicians work rotating shifts, perform tasks requiring good physical
condition, and may be assigned to outdoor duties.

- ACT/AAPP placement: college level English and reading;
- MA 0800 or higher in math.
