Career Inventories

The Chattanooga State Center for Career Services and Counseling offers the following Career Inventories. Individuals interested in taking a Career Inventory must first attend a Career Information Session.

Note: All inventory interpretations are done on the main campus by appointment. Test results cannot be mailed or discussed on the telephone.

Strong Interest Inventory *

  • Helps you determine your interest
  • Compares your likes and dislikes with those of others employed in a variety of occupational areas
  • Translates your preference into career options.
Cost: $15 Free to Chattanooga State Students
How Long: Approximately 40 minutes
Strong Interest Inventory

16 PF *

  • A personality profile that examines personality factors regarding problem solving, stress management, social interactions and work place temperament
  • Relates these factors to the world of work
  • Recommended for individuals who are 30+ years of age.
Cost: $25
How Long: Approximately one hour

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator *

  • Gives information that can help you understand your individual personality type
  • How it relates to communication style, work style, career choice, leadership and problem-solving styles
  • Helps you understand how you take in information, make decisions and communicate thoughts and feelings.
Cost: $15 Free to Chattanooga State Students
How Long: Approximately 40 minutes

SIGI (pronounced "Siggy")
Stands for System of Interactive Guidance and Information.

  • User friendly, complete, self-directed, interactive system of career guidance and information
  • Begins with a brief introduction, followed by eight core sections each covering an important step in career decision making
  • Work at their own pace.
  • May be completed from any computer that has internet access
  • Individuals must first attend a Career Information Session to obtain a password.

Kuder

Kuder is an innovative, internet-based system combining research-based interest, skills and work values assessments with portfolio development, educational exploration resources.

  • Offers a comprehensive solution for career planners at all stages of career development
  • May be completed from any computer that has internet access. Individuals must first attend a Career Information Session to obtain a password.

Career Inventory Interpretation Sessions

  • Interpretation session is scheduled with a counselor to discuss the results
  • Results are not handed out without an interpretation
