Questions To Ask Yourself

Questions typically asked by those who are selecting college majors, changing careers, or adding training:

  1. Should I stay in my comfort zone or should I step out and try a new environment?
  2. If I choose "x" what happens to the "y" possibility?
  3. Will I be able to make the right, last, perfect decision?
  4. Will I be able to identify my goal, my focus, my direction; when I find it, will I be able to follow through?
  5. Will reaching my goal really be worth the effort; will it make a difference?
  6. Will I be able to overcome my subject blocks (Math, English, my perceptions about the technological world) if I decide to pursue my education?
  7. Will I be able to find the time I will need?
  8. Will my family and my friends be able to make the necessary adjustments to support me?
  9. Will there be someone to give me extra help with my studies if I need it?
  10. Will I be able to fit into the college environment?
  11. Will I be able to find the financial resources?
  12. Will I be able to work out child care and transportation?

YES! These are normal concerns of competent people of all ages who are considering taking college classes, going to work for the first time in a long time, change jobs, or changing careers. Remember, the Career Services and Counseling Center is here to help you reach your goals.
