Overcoming Test Anxiety
Anxiety is an overwhelming sense that something is about to happen, such as an impending test. Even though anxiety is normal, natural reaction to stress, you cannot let it control you. Anxiety is something that you have chosen - believe it or not - and you can make another choice. This workshop will offer ways to help you learn how to beat test anxiety.
Stress Management
Stress is the body's natural reaction to pleasant or unpleasant situations. It can be defined as any mental or emotional pressure. There may be many events in your life that will qualify as stress. If you successfully deal with stress and respond to life's challenges by searching for solutions to them, you gain a sense of competency and control. The goal of the workshop is simple - to realize that stress is not something that happens to us; stress is something we talk ourselves into.
Learn to Manage Your Time
The attitude you have toward studying is important, but it is not the only factor that determines academic prosperity. Success or failure depends on how well you use time. No matter how hard you try, you can never control time. Instead, make productive use of the amount you have available by managing yourself. The best way to do this is to evaluate how your time is spent. Learn how to make the best use of time - setting goals and striving to get the most out of college and life.
Overcoming Math Anxiety
Mathematics is difficult and it takes hard work and practice to master it. The problem of MATH anxiety is self-induced. Consequently, you can control it. Do not let self-doubt prevent you from earning good grades. You can learn how to successfully take a MATH test. Come join us.
Improve Your Listening Skills
Contrary to popular belief, listening is not the same as hearing. You may find it difficult to listen, even though you hear. In other words, listening is not a natural, innate skill. It is a talent that must be developed. There is no doubt that learning depends upon your ability to listen to what is being said, both in the classroom and life. Without it, you cannot intelligently think and act upon information you hear. Learn how to improve your listening skills.
Memorization Techniques
Everything we know involves memory. If it were not for memory, there would be no systematic thought, no awareness of the past, and no planning for the future. To improve your memory skills, you must learn how to effectively use memory aids. Memory aids can improve your test scores. While repetition is the first and most fundamental way to memorize, there are additional methods. This workshop will no doubt answer the age-old question which even you may have considered a time or two: "How can I improve my memory?"
