NEW!! Passage
Degree Program |
Business & Information TechnologiesWelcome to the Business and Information Technologies Division! This division encompasses a very wide range of programs and certificates, mostly geared toward students who are planning to seek employment upon graduation. While there may be opportunities to transfer credits earned in these Associate of Applied Science degrees, to other programs, a student interested in continuing into advanced education at a university should work very carefully with an advisor from the very beginning to maximize transferability. In most cases, students who are certain of their plans to transfer to a university are better served in pursuing the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree with a concentration in business administration or one of the business disciplines. Our programs are about preparing you for the work force, so the program you choose should align with the job you hope to attain upon graduation. The number of career options in this Division is huge! The Business Department has degrees for students seeking to start and run their own small businesses as well as for those who seek supervisory responsibilities in larger employers. The Accounting program offers extensive training in accounting and taxation. The Information Systems Department provides training for students who want to program computers, bring computers together in networks, or help computer users with the problems they encounter with hardware and software. At our Center for Applied Legal Studies, students prepare for careers as paralegals, as court reporters and closed captioners, or as office managers. We recently added two new programs in the Division. Media Technologies is the degree for students interested in careers in graphic design, Web design, or mass communications. Construction Management offers a unique opportunity for current workers in the industry to achieve advanced placement toward a degree based on apprenticeship training. There are contacts for our programs and plenty of information on the department pages (Business, Information Technologies, and Applied Legal Studies). If you can’t find what you are looking for or if you need help deciding which of these programs is best for you, send your questions by email to jim.steele@chattanoogastate.edu . Or give me a call at 423-697-4441. I hope we’ll see you on campus soon! Jim Steele Dean, Business and Information Technologies Division |
