Associate of Applied Science Degree in Management

Construction Management Concentration

The Construction Management Concentration provides students already trained in the construction trades with the opportunity to expand their career opportunities in management and entrepreneurship. Through general education classes and courses in business and management, students develop the skills needed to move into supervisory roles or to start a small business within their area of technical training and experience.

Program Goals:

Focus: Supervision of construction personnel and projects

Courses build key managerial skills such as:

Management and Supervision

Accounting

Understanding Contracts

Construction estimating

Managing complex projects

To gain admission to this program, a student must present:

1) A diploma in construction or a construction trade from Chattanooga State’s Tennessee Technology Center or from another Tennessee Technology Center:

  1. Building Construction Technology

  2. Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC)                           

  3. Welding Technology

  4. Landscape & Turf Management

  5. Industrial Electricity

  6. Masonry

  7. Plumbing

OR 

2) Hold a certificate of completion from an apprenticeship program approved by the U. S. Department of Labor requiring at least 1,290 clock hours.  Examples of qualified programs:

  1. Journeyman Graduate of the Chattanooga Electrical JATC

  2. Journeyman Graduate of the Plumbers and Steamfitters JATC

  3. Journeyman Graduate of the Tri-State Carpenters & Millwrights JATC

  4. Journeyman Graduate of the Ironworkers JATC
