Associate Athletic Director for Academic and Compliance



Kim Weems-Smith begins her 19th year at Chattanooga State. Her present job includes being a fulltime faculty member in the Physical Education department as well as serving as the Director of Student-Athlete Success within the Athletic Department.
 
Beginning in 1989, Coach Smith was hired as head coach of the Lady Tigers basketball team. Three years later, she was named Athletic Director and served in that capacity for eight years. Smith developed the Student Athlete Success program in 1998 and currently directs the retention efforts and academic plan for each student-athlete.
 
With a master’s degree earned from the University of Tennessee in 1988, Coach Smith has been an assistant coach in softball and basketball at Carson Newman and before her arrival at Chattanooga State, she was an assistant basketball coach at the University of Georgia.
 
During her college days at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga and Carson Newman, Smith competed at the varsity level in basketball, softball and tennis.
 
Married to Aaron Smith, who operates his own business, the couple has two children, Alexandra and Abigal.
