Tiger Women's Basketball Coach

Head Coach

 Jay Price

Jay Price begins his fifth season as the Tigers Head Men's Basketball Coach, and on March 31, 2008, was named Head Women's Basketball coach at Chattanooga State.  Beginning in the 2008-2009 season, Price will be at the coaching helm for both the Tiger and Lady Tiger basketball programs.  Coach Price brings a unique blend of a playing background, coaching expertise and a personable coaching style that is unique to the community college athletic experience.

After a stellar interscholastic experience at Brainerd High School from 1986-1988, Price signed and starred at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville for the next four years.  During that time, he forged many relationships with current and former NBA players.  After completing a four-year stint playing professional basketball overseas, Coach Price honed his coaching skills by directing a tour team for 10 years.  Prior to taking the job at Chattanooga State, he coached at Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga where he was Assistant Men's Coach and Head Women's Coach for six years.

In his inaugural season at Chattanooga State, the 2004-2005 Tigers fast came to understand that Coach Price not only knew the game of basketball but had a special way in which to impart his knowledge.  Still able to play at a high level, Price was able to demonstrate and teach the "right way to play."  His "take an interest in each player attitude" allowed each player to reach their potential.  His no-none sense disciplined approach to the way the game of basketball should be played propelled the Tigers to the Region VII semi final appearance.

The ability of Coach Price to relate to each student athlete is influenced by his understanding attitude.  In addition he calls on his many relationship experiences as a business owner, YMCA Director of Programs/Sports and Director of Public Relations/Marketing for Allan Houston Enterprises to further succeed in helping each one of his players reach their potential

By placing the well being of each student athlete at the forefront of the Tiger basketball program, Coach Price will continue to exemplify the philosophy of Chattanooga State athletics.

Price is married to Angela and has three daughters; seven-year-old Jala, three-year-old Kennedy, and one-month-old Alexis.
